Teleclass | (FREE Denver Russell Memorial Teleclass Lecture) ROLE OF SURFACES IN DISEASE TRASMISSION: DOES ENHANCED DISINFECTION REDUCE TRANSMISSION? |
Outline: | Objectives: - Examine the role of environmental surfaces as a source for transmission of healthcare-associated pathogens - Examine the evidence that improving environmental disinfection can reduce healthcare-associated infections On June 14, 2002, Prof. A. Denver Russell (1936-2004) bravely presented his teleclass lecture on quaternary ammonium compounds. Calling from a Japanese hotel room in the middle of the night, he battled a gauntlet of technological challenges (one of which proved to be terminal) and angry, sleepless hotel neighbors to present what inadvertently became our first ever attempt at an intercontinental teleclass lecture. It was an as-yet-unmatched-disaster!! Despite the negative experience he became a great friend of Teleclass Education (although he never gave another teleclass lecture himself). This A.D. Russell Memorial Teleclass lecture is intended to honour him and be presented on a topic that he would have found fascinating. It will be hosted by Prof. Jean-Yves Maillard of Cardiff University. |
